Hydroponic microgreens - clean and sustainable
Share
Our original blend of broccoli, mustard, bok choy and red cabbage microgreens are grown ourselves. Our grow operation is all done indoors using a hydroponic method that can be operated year-round. This means we only use water enhanced with an organic nutrient solution to grow these varieties. Not only is it an organic process using organic ingredients but it is also very sustainable. Traditional farming requires land and/or soil that needs to be acquired and composted which adds to greenhouse gases. Even indoors we don’t need much space as we use racks to take advantage of vertical space and hence can keep costs for lights, ventilation and temperature control economical.
We lay out our seeds on food-grade silicone mesh mat designed specifically for growing microgreens and are fed only with a water and nutrient solution derived from seaweed. The entire process only takes 10-12 days to produce nutritious greens for the freeze-drying process!
